Frequently Asked Questions - Master Teacher Fellowship in Computer Science
I am the only person who currently teaches Computer Science at my school. Can I still apply?
Yes. You can team-up with a colleague who teaches mathematics. They don't have to currently be teaching computer science, they just have to have an interest in doing so in the future. Also, see the question below about applying with a colleague from another SLC on the same school site.
Can I apply together with a colleague from another Small Learning Community (SLC) on the same school site?
MƒA LA will consider extenuating circumstances that may prevent teachers from working with colleagues at their schools. Applicants will need to demonstrate that they will be able to work with their colleagues at the other site and how the proposed project can be integrated at both sites.
Do all teachers on the team need to have a master's degree?
Yes. Masters in Computer Science, other STEM subject, or Education. This is a requirement of the grant and we cannot waive it.
Can my team submit one letter of recommendation that covers the entire team?
Yes. The principal or assistant principal can write one letter for the team. They should also submit one rating sheet for each member of your team.
I have transcripts in sealed envelopes from the universities I attended. Can I mail them to you or do I need to order the transcripts from the universities and have each institution send them directly to MfA Los Angeles?
You can mail your sealed transcripts to MfA Los Angeles. No need to order new transcripts.
